In the world of pharmaceutical and biotech lab supplies, scientists and procurement professionals found themselves constantly needing to work with new suppliers and manufacturers. ZAGENO offers an expansive set of integrations for customers. This includes major platforms from SAP Ariba, Coupa and NetSuite to Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, and more to ensure smooth fulfillment, billing, and tracking of every order through the marketplace.

Genett said from the get-go, Logicbroker’s ecosystem provided the automated reports, invoicing, and shipping information the team needed to save time on manual touchpoints and start working through ways to make their internal processes more efficient. 

“With everything we do, Logicbroker is our hub and spine as we fulfill orders and get items to our scientists,” he said. “We found Logicbroker’s APIs and webhooks to be very robust and thorough, drastically simplifying the upfront integration we had to do to get up and running.”

Timing is everything for ZAGENO’s customers ordering lab supplies. In many cases, the items being ordered are time- or temperature-sensitive, so always having the latest shipping information and order status is paramount. 

With Logicbroker supporting its fulfillment processes, ZAGENO can automatically enforce business rules that ensure suppliers acknowledge orders on time, provide itemized shipping estimates, and provide detailed shipment tracking information. Additional invoicing business rules enforce three-way matching to ensure ZAGENO is only paying suppliers—and billing our customers—for what they’ve physically shipped.

We’ve been able to catch many accounts payable errors from our suppliers that would’ve gone unnoticed by manually inspecting invoices. Through Logicbroker I think we’ve even made our suppliers better and are raising the bar for the industry.

Self-Service Supplier Tools

Giving suppliers the tools they need to onboard themselves into ZAGENO’s ecosystem has saved ZAGENO countless hours of manual work. Because there are concrete business rules to follow, and an integration testing suite built into Logicbroker, ZAGENO can empower suppliers to accomplish much of their integration on their own.

“The integration testing suite is such a cool feature and a huge time saver on our team,” Genett said. “We would’ve had to hire another analyst to manage all the testing that goes through our platform. Instead, we just send suppliers to this self-service suite and tell them to complete our required test cases once they establish connectivity. It’s incredibly efficient and also helps set expectations with your suppliers. They can run through the custom business rules while testing and better understand the performance standards they need to meet.” 

An Eye on the Future

With a solid partnership in place, ZAGENO has begun looking at ways to further optimize its use of the Logicbroker platform. One key area that is being looked at is capitalizing further on the massive amount of data flowing into ZAGENO’s ecosystem. Whether that’s through more efficient supplier tracking, utilizing data to speed up onboarding, or growing its catalog further, Genett said data will always be a key focus for the team.
