Logicbroker’s Top Trends From NRF 2025

By Jager Robinson | January 21, 2025

NRF 2025 was an incredible show. With incredible sessions, and 11 highly focused discussions at the Logicbroker Stage at the Jacob Javits Center, the Logicbroker team came away with four key learnings that the majority of retailers and suppliers are discussing heading into 2025.

1. AI is a Real-World Problem Solver

Artificial intelligence has evolved from a buzzword to a practical tool solving tangible challenges in the retail sector. NRF 2025 featured around 15 talks that spoke extensively on AI and its impact in the eCommerce sector.

The most discussed aspect? Product enrichment. AI is now being used to optimize product descriptions, images, and metadata, improving SEO and enhancing the online shopping experience for both retailers and consumers. Retailers are leveraging AI tools to automatically generate high-quality content that aligns with consumer preferences and drives conversions to help streamline the supplier-retailer data flow. While consumers enjoy rapidly evolving products that don’t rely on bad images or unclear product data.

Another significant use case is in proactive supply chain and carrier disruption management. By analyzing vast amounts of data, AI helps retailers identify potential supply chain bottlenecks and carrier delays before they occur. This is helping businesses adjust their operations in real-time, ensuring better fulfillment and a smoother customer experience. This shift from experimentation to implementation demonstrates AI’s value in creating more resilient and efficient eCommerce ecosystems.

2. OMS’s as Far as the Eye Can See

Order Management Systems (OMS) are now a cornerstone of effective eCommerce operations. Many eCommerce teams have relied on makeshift solutions, using their commerce platforms or ERP systems as makeshift OMS platforms. However, these approaches often lack the scalability and flexibility required to meet modern customer demands.

Specialized OMS platforms were a talking point of NRF 2025 and provide a unified view of inventory, seamless integration with multiple sales channels, and real-time order tracking. By extension, many organizations highlighted platforms like Logicbroker as a nimble go-between from their eCommerce operation to their OMS.

In several talks, organizations discuss how adopting robust OMS solutions allowed them to enhance operational efficiency, deliver a consistent omnichannel shopping experience, and reduce errors in inventory and fulfillment processes.

3. The (Inevitable) Rise of Social Commerce

NRF 2025 really was keying in one thing, and that’s adopting technology to meet the newest wave of social selling. Retailers are increasingly embracing social commerce as a way to connect with consumers where they spend much of their time: social media platforms.

This trend goes beyond simple advertising; it’s about creating shoppable moments and leveraging the power of social networks to introduce brands to new audiences, boost visibility and engagement, and drive direct sales.

Social platforms offer unparalleled reach, enabling retailers to engage younger demographics and niche communities. Features like live shopping events and influencer collaborations help drive real-time engagement and spark interest in products.

With integrated checkout features, consumers can complete purchases without ever leaving the platform. As social commerce becomes an essential part of the eCommerce playbook, retailers must focus on crafting authentic, engaging content to maximize ROI. 4. Digital Twins and the Shift Toward Brand Creation

One of the most thought-provoking concepts from NRF 2025 was the keynote discussion with Walmart where the concept of digital twins once again resurfaced. Digital Twins are virtual replicas of physical products, stores, or processes are being used by retailers to test new layouts or product assortments before implementing them in the real world, optimize supply chain operations through simulation, and create immersive consumer experiences in virtual environments.

While we know this concept mainly through established ideas like the meta-verse, or Amazon’s “AR digital shopper” tool, digital twins is expanding to include just about anything. A digital twin of your supply chain can represent different test models and new warehouses. Digital twins of your in-store experiences can help beta test new layouts, technologies, and more. Essentially, the concept of having a digital representative can be used to replicate almost all real-world testing needed before having to make capital investments.

With this technology, retailers will be able to quickly test new products on their Multi-Vendor Commerce platform like Logicbroker, while virtually testing new store layouts and product applications with their digital twins.

Additionally, the keynote emphasized a growing trend of retailers evolving into brand creators. By leveraging tools like digital twins, retailers can design and innovate their own product lines, gaining greater control over their offerings and building stronger connections with their customers. When testing new products digitally, having consumer beta test groups can help them easily capitalize on new trends while ensuring the product is what consumers want.
