Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Analytics Engineer to join our growing Data & Analytics team. This hybrid role combines the technical expertise of a Data Engineer with the analytical mindset of a Data Analyst. As an Analytics Engineer, you will design and maintain a cutting-edge lakehouse architecture, develop data pipelines, and create actionable reports that empower stakeholders to make data-driven decisions. You’ll bridge the gap between raw data and business insights, ensuring data is accessible, reliable, and optimized for reporting and analysis. While predictive analytics may occasionally come into play, your primary focus will be on building robust data systems and delivering clear, impactful visualizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lakehouse Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain a scalable lakehouse architecture (e.g., using Delta Lake, Databricks, or Snowflake) that integrates data lakes and data warehouses for efficient storage and querying.
- Data Pipeline Development: Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver high-quality data from diverse sources (e.g., APIs, databases, cloud storage) into the lakehouse.
- Report Creation: Collaborate with business stakeholders to design and develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker, ensuring insights are actionable and accessible.
- Data Modeling: Create and maintain semantic layers and data models (e.g., star schemas, dbt models) to support reporting and self-service analytics.
- Data Quality & Governance: Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security by implementing validation checks, documentation, and best practices for data management.
- Collaboration: Partner with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and business teams to understand data needs, refine requirements, and deliver solutions that align with organizational goals.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune data pipelines and queries to ensure efficient processing and fast report generation.
- Stretch Goal (Optional): Explore opportunities to support predictive analytics by preparing datasets for machine learning models or collaborating with Data Scientists on forecasting initiatives.
Requirements:
- Experience: 3+ years in a data-related role (e.g., Data Engineer, Data Analyst, or similar), with hands-on experience in data pipeline development and reporting.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with lakehouse technologies (e.g., Delta Lake, Apache Spark, Databricks).
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Fivetran) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Expertise in BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) for report and dashboard creation.
- Programming knowledge in Python or similar languages is a plus.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to translate business questions into data solutions and communicate insights effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Proven track record of tackling complex data challenges and optimizing systems for performance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Nice-to-Have: Exposure to predictive analytics or machine learning workflows (e.g., preparing data for models in scikit-learn, TensorFlow).
